And so yes. All of my november was fully saturated with David Bazan after seeing him perform in Seattle. I could not stop listening to Headphones and Pedro the Lion, Control... but the last couple weeks I've moved on to this: Drummer.
I found a couple tracks someplace on these fine internets and I cannot stop. It's like twice through the record every day.
The band is Patrick Carney, the drummer from The Black Keys and 4 other long time friends, all drummers from Ohio bands.
The record is so solid. Not particularly technical, but good music need not be. The fact is the song writing is great. The drumming is obviously amazing, and the guitar work, though not complicated is very compelling in its use of rhythms. It's driving. It's powerful and its stuck in my head, mostly all day long...
Overall, Love. Very love this record. Excellent work, sirs.
Go over to their myspace and listen to Mature Fantasy and tell me you're not tapping your foot or driving fast...
Oh and the organ. Rock organ. I could fall over. So good.
